A primary school pupil died on Thursday after the fence of the Ketu Adiye Owe Primary School, Ota in Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area while four others sustained injuries.
A statement by the Chairman of the local government, Rotimi Rahmon, on Thursday alleged that the affected classroom was located in an erosion-prone area within the school compound.
The injured pupils in the incident, which happened while the children were on break, were said to have been rushed to the General Hospital, Ota, on the instruction of the council boss.
The local government chairman was reported to have visited the family of the deceased to commiserate with them.
The chairman, who expressed regret over the unfortunate incident, also directed that the standing wall of the affected classroom be brought down immediately.
He also directed all school headmasters in the council to ensure that any structure or object that could endanger pupils were removed from the school compound.
