1,000 dock workers protest non-payment of eight-month salaries

No fewer than 1,000 members of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria are currently protesting the non-payment of their eight-month salary arrears at the Dock Workers branch office of the Nigeria Port Authority, Lagos.

President of the MUW, who spoke on behalf of the protesters, said they would embark on an indefinite strike if they are not paid before October 30.

He said, "We have an agreement with the government and for eight months, our salaries have not been paid. We give them a five-day ultimatum; that is October 30, if they don't pay us, we will withdraw our services nationwide."
